We asked a few Kurt a few questions about his interests and background.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I grew up in Oregon. I enjoy fishing, hiking and exploring the wonders that this part of the Northwest has to offer. I live in the Netarts area with my wife Lorna.
Besides fishing and hiking, I enjoy cooking, and mountain biking. When not spending time my family or making the world’s best salt, I enjoy giving back to the community by volunteering, serving and supporting the various civic and charitable organizations in the area.
What brought you to Jacobsen Salt Co.?
There are several reasons I was excited at the prospect of working for this company.
First, I love the products. I was introduced to the Salt at the farmers market and have used it ever since. There is something so pure about crafting elemental products such as sea salt in the artisan way and I really enjoy it.
Second, the smaller size of the company blended with it's growth and consumer demand for it's products.
Third, the people. When I first visited the Salt Works in Netarts I could tell that the salt makers I met had a real passion for making the worlds best Sea Salt. That passion also shows in the people at the Portland site as they package and ship the various honey and salt products to customers.
Beatles or Rolling Stones?
As far as your third questions goes...Rolling Stones!
