This soothing, protein-filled smoothie will help you take on spring with less sniffles. When consumed regularly, raw honey and bee pollen have been shown to help reduce the intensity of allergic reactions. Pineapple, with it's high content of vitamin C and bromelain, helps build a stronger immune system and acts as a decongestant.
For those looking for an alternative to nut butters for a protein fix, bee pollen is 40 percent protein and contains plenty of vitamin B and folic acid. This smoothie can be enjoyed with breakfast or as an afternoon snack.
1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple
1/2 apple, roughly chopped (no need to peel)
3-4 whole fresh or frozen strawberries
1-2 teaspoons Bee Local raw honey to taste (we love Portland Farmland, Walla Walla and Yakima Valley for this recipe)
2 tablespoons Bee Local Bee Pollen
1 cup water or coconut water or nut milk of choice
Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Sprinkle a little bee pollen on top for added color and texture.
