Associate Marketing Manager

Founded in craftsmanship and community in 2011, Jacobsen Salt Co. is the first company to harvest salt in the Pacific Northwest since the 1800s. Our mission is to provide the finest elemental cooking ingredients and kitchen staples that inspire people to cook, eat, and live well, every day. Beyond our wide variety of pure and infused sea salts, we create and source the finest single-origin raw honey, salted confections, seasonings, gift sets, and other pantry staples.

Melding creativity, strategy, and project management, the Associate Marketing Manager will join JSC’s marketing team to manage and execute the content strategy for all marketing initiatives, including its website, email, digital ads, editorial, and social media. You will work in collaboration with the marketing team and various external partners to thoughtfully and strategically amplify the JSC story, with a particular focus on its growing eCommerce channel. You will use storytelling, engaging content, digital marketing and key partnerships to build awareness and drive sales, all while interacting with our current and prospective customers and testing new, thoughtful ways to communicate JSC’s unique brand positioning.

Key Responsibilities: 

Content & Content Strategy

  • Work collaboratively to set and execute the content strategy, ensuring it ladders up to quarterly and evergreen content themes 
  • Manage and execute against editorial content calendar, particularly as it pertains to digital content disseminated through email, social and website
  • Develop and manage annual photoshoot schedule, direction and budget
  • Partner with Digital Content Creator to determine strategy and campaigns for key social channels 
  • Create compelling campaigns that align with key product launches, managing the content, storytelling, copywriting, editing, design and execution 
  • Develop and manage annual photoshoot schedule for eCommerce and editorial photoshoots
  • Coordinate with key external partners to oversee content strategy and execution for product launches, eCommerce initiatives, editorial, digital marketing materials, and other brand initiatives, as determined by Senior Marketing Manager

Partnerships

  • In collaboration with PR agency and broader JSC internal community, identify partnership opportunities and help manage key partnership activations, from inception to launch
  • Identify relevant partnerships for opportunities such as brand campaigns, storytelling, product etc.

eComm & Digital Marketing 

  • Create & execute weekly DTC email marketing campaigns
  • In collaboration with Senior Marketing Manager, manage digital marketing and web agency partners
  • Manage development of digital ad assets 
  • Lead and implement website updates, from PDP to editorial pages

Project Management & Reporting

  • Collaborate interdepartmentally and with external partners on product launches, brand partnerships, evergreen/quarterly campaigns, and events
  • Oversee and manage ad-hoc creative projects for DTC channel and brand
  • Report on key campaign initiatives and digital marketing efforts, as determined by marketing team and CEO 

The ideal candidate is: 

  • An analytically-minded brand marketer with 3-5 years of experience working in marketing at a CPG company, ideally one with an eCommerce channel 
  • Someone with a keen sense of and interest in brand thinking and content strategy
  • Experienced in coordinating and working on photoshoots; video shoots a plus
  • Experienced in managing external digital marketing partners and writing creative briefs
  • Experienced with email marketing platforms, Klaviyo preferred
  • Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Figma; photo styling is a plus
  • An extremely flexible and collaborative team player; confident working independently and under direct supervision 
  • A proactive project manager with strong organization and prioritization skills, who is organized and can maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • A strong writer and storyteller with excellent communication skills; highly attuned to maintaining brand voice 
  • Comfortable completing intermediate tasks on a computer, including navigating word processing and familiarity with Google Suite; experience working in Google Suite is preferred
  • A champion of JSC’s ideals of integrity and inclusivity, both in the workplace and in the community
  • Adaptable in a lean and evolving high-growth business, with a demonstrated record of ability to perform under pressure
  • Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve in a positive manner
  • Someone with excellent time-management skills

Essential physical functions:

  • Must be able to stay in a stationary position at least 50% of the workday
  • Some workdays will require consistently operating a computer; others will require walking or standing all day 
  • May be required to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

Typical weekly schedule:

  • The Associate Marketing Manager role is a full-time, exempt position
  • Position is based in Portland, Oregon, and will include a hybrid of in-office and remote work primarily during regular business hours of 9:00 AM - 5:30PM, Monday-Friday

Reports to:

Senior Marketing Manager 

The starting annual salary range for this position will be between $55,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience, knowledge, and qualifications. Benefits include paid time off and paid company holidays, as well as eligibility for health/dental/vision benefits after 60 days and 401(k) after one year.
