Customer Service & Sales Accounts Receivable Associate

Jacobsen Salt Co. seeks a full-time, non-exempt (estimated 40 hours/week) Customer Service & Sales A/R Associate to support and enhance our team. A successful Customer Service & Sales A/R Associate will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, and solution-oriented critical thinking. The ideal candidate should be confident both working independently, as well as closely with teammates across departments and sales channels.
Primary functions include:
- Execute order entry with a high level of accuracy and follow-through, including solving problems in a thoughtful, warm, and timely manner
- Confirm orders (including products, pricing, quantities, and shipping/fulfillment logistics) with customer, Account Manager, and Fulfillment/Logistics teammates
- Support efforts to review, code, and record distributor chargebacks and markdowns, issuing appeals or disputes on an as needed basis
- Keep customers informed of their order status
- Maintain Will Call pickup status communication and restock needs
- Communicate any special requests to the appropriate teams
- Maintain proactive and positive communication to ensure the highest level of customer service to new and existing customer accounts (both wholesale and DTC) through sales support and account management activities
- First contact for customer inquiries, customer concerns, and order processing via email, phone, and customer portal messaging
- Navigate competing priorities including responding to and resolving customer inquiries, order changes, sample order processing, product returns, and product shortage resolution
- Thoroughly document and update customer, inventory, and accounting records and maintain related filing
- Develop and maintain a knowledge base of the evolving JSC products
- Contribute to Inside Sales efforts:
- Keep information on current promotional calendar up to date (provided by Sales Team) and communicate applicable promos to customers
- Provide accurate pricing and product specs to customers with Account Manager visibility
- Cultivate account familiarity/Identify opportunities: offer samples, products, and information pertinent to specific customer needs/order history
- Contribute to overall account growth through added sales and clerical support
- Contribute to Accounts Receivable efforts, including but not limited to, reviewing past due balances and working in tandem with Accounting to ensure timely payments
- Perform other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate is:
- A high school graduate (or has a commensurate degree or certifications) with at least 1-2 years of Customer Service, Sales, or Accounts Receivable experience preferred
- Comfortable completing intermediate tasks on a computer, including navigating word processing, spreadsheets, and familiarity with Google Suite; experience working in Quickbooks and/or Shopify is preferred
- An extremely flexible and collaborative team player; confident working independently and under direct supervision
- Confident and articulate in all forms of communication, including verbal and written
- Adaptable in a lean and evolving high-growth business
- An adept multitasker with strong organizational skills
- Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve in a positive manner
- Someone with excellent time management skills, who can maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment

- Essential physical functions:
- Fully capable of lifting 1-19lbs (occasionally) and 20-55lbs (rarely)
- Able to sit or stand for multiple hours at a time; position requires working at a computer for up to 95% of the shift (standing desk can be provided)
Typical weekly schedule:
Shift Hours: 8:30AM - 5:00PM
Shift Length: 8 hours
Five consecutive days: Monday-Friday
Overtime hours possible as necessitated by business operations
This full-time, non-exempt position works out of Jacobsen’s headquarters in NE Portland, Oregon

Customer Service Manager
The starting salary range for this position is $18.00-20.00/hour. Benefits include paid time off and paid company holidays, as well as eligibility for health/dental/vision benefits after 60 days and 401(k) after one year.
