Post Production Associate
Jacobsen Salt Co. seeks a full-time (30 hour/week) Post Production Associate who is self-motivated and eager to learn an artisanal skill. This is a physical, hands-on position that contributes primarily to the end of the salt production process, from drying and sifting salt to final salt packaging. A keen eye for detail is a must, as essential duties include accurate record keeping and achieving high product quality standards.
Location: Netarts Bay, OR
Primary functions include:
- Accurately, productively and efficiently load and unload trays of salt from dehydrators, use vibratory sifter to sift salt, and classify and grade raw salt
- Accurately, productively and efficiently weigh, fill, seal and case pack salt to create finished products
- Contribute to preparation of other raw materials, such as shucking dehydrated garlic
- Pack and load finished product for transport
- Maintain consistent and accurate data input on Daily Build Sheets (submitted to Post Production Lead)
- Understand daily and weekly production deliverables, and strive to meet all deadlines and goals
- Maintain workspace order and cleanliness, including organization of salt drain barrels, and adhering to detailed cleaning schedule and log
- Comply with all company policies and procedures in order to rigorously uphold all quality control and food safety standards
- Ensure performance and functionality of all post production tools and equipment by cleaning, lubricating, calibrating, etc. as needed; operate all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner
- Communicate promptly, thoroughly, constructively and consistently with both direct supervisor and all team members, including reporting food safety and quality concerns to Lead and/or Manager
- Identify inefficiencies and propose improvements (such as quality assurances, capacity, ease of use, etc.) to processes and equipment
- Assist Facility Manager with upkeep maintenance and regular improvements to facility grounds, property and equipment
- Support retail sales at onsite Gift Shop, including developing an understanding of brand, full product line, customer service standards and Point-Of-Sale equipment functionality
- Contribute to salt production duties as assigned

Skills, characteristics, and core competencies required:
- A high school graduate (or has a commensurate degree or certifications) with access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Some previous experience working in manufacturing or food production/preparation is a plus
- An energetic, enthusiastic and collaborative team player; comfortable working both independently and under direct supervision
- Demonstrates effective and respectful communication skills, both verbal and written
- Accountable and trustworthy, with a strong work ethic and good judgment
- A champion of Jacobsen’s ideals of integrity and inclusivity, both in the workplace and in the community
- Comfortable with basic hand tool use, machine setup and equipment operation
- Able to perform basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Comfortable completing basic tasks on a computer, including navigating word processing, spreadsheets and email
- Able to read, understand and communicate operational and safety information in English
- Able to work in an environment where food allergens may be present
Essential physical functions:
- Fully capable of lifting, pushing and pulling 20-55 lbs (frequent) and 56-70 lbs (rarely)
- Good physical dexterity required; tasks and movements requiring fine motor skills are common and frequent
- Able to climb ladders and stairs, squat, kneel, reach overhead and walk on uneven surfaces
- Able to stand for several hours (position requires walking or standing for long periods, up to 100% of the shift/two hours at a time)
- Position requires the ability to work in a manufacturing environment
- Minimal computer operation
Typical weekly schedule:
- Shift Hours: 9:00AM - 7:30PM
- Shift Schedule: Thursday-Saturday
- Shift Length: 10 hours
- Four consecutive days off Sunday-Wednesday
- Overtime hours possible as necessitated by business operations
- Position works out of Jacobsen’s production facility in Netarts, Oregon.

Starting hourly rate for this position is $18.00/hour. Benefits include paid time off and paid company holidays, as well as eligibility for health/dental/vision benefits after 60 days and 401(k) after one year.
