Coast Operations Manager

Position: Coast Operations Manager
Location: Netarts Bay, OR
Jacobsen Salt Co. seeks a full-time Coast Operations Manager with food production, supervisory and project management experience to support our salt making operations in Netarts.This position requires a flexible and even-keeled doer who will work interdepartmentally to ensure that company-wide operational goals are met and initiatives achieved. This position will be expected to evaluate salt production functionality and efficacy, ensure team satisfaction and success, and drive performance.
Primary functions include:
- Own daily facility operations and activities, providing thoughtful, reliable leadership and direction to Production, Post-Production and Gift Shop teams.
- Supervise and execute all aspects of personnel management for the coast facility team. Motivate, evaluate and coach to meaningfully impact team satisfaction and accountability. Contribute to team appreciation and retention efforts. Oversee scheduling, training and performance improvement, conducting regular reviews and leading terminations when necessary.
- Work collaboratively to create staffing plan and drive hiring and recruitment. Ensure staffing meets the needs of the business and is responsive to seasonal fluctuations.
- Oversee salt production projections. Work closely with Portland Operations Manager and Senior Customer Service Manager to ensure continuity of production, tracking and reporting of yields, and timely order fulfillment.
- Inspire and implement both macro and micro process improvements to ensure production capacity and growth, and nimble prioritization.
- Manage construction and process expansion projects, with a focus on custom equipment development and maintenance. Organize and coordinate communication, data, labor, etc. as required. Compile and submit information for budget preparation, actively anticipate and monitor expenses, and analyze variances to meet and exceed goals.
- Initiate, coordinate and enforce systems and policies. Improve product and service quality by devising new applications and procedures, maintain, evaluate and enhance current production and batching systems, and present end results to all stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication between Netarts and Portland teams. Know how to assess complex situations and how to appropriately follow up.
- Oversee Coast Gift Shop functions and collaborate with Sales Team to set and achieve revenue goals.
- Be a practitioner of and leader in advancing Jacobsen's values, mission, and pillars of Community, Voice, and Environment with all stakeholders. Be a positive, engaged Jacobsen ambassador.
- Contribute to salt making, post-production duties and customer service/gift shop sales responsibilities as needed.

Skills, characteristics, and core competencies required:
- Leader with 3-5+ years of diversified experience in operations management, ideally in food production at a small-medium organization
- Lifelong learner with a bachelor’s degree in a related field (or has a commensurate degree or certifications) with access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Outstanding people manager, who is comfortable problem-solving and decision-making with a curious, solution-driven approach to work
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) or very familiar with food safety and quality assurance processes and procedures
- Energetic, enthusiastic and collaborative team player; comfortable working both independently and under direct supervision
- Clear and articulate in all forms of communication (including verbal and written), with excellent presentation skills
- Accountable and trustworthy, with a strong work ethic and good judgment
- A champion of Jacobsen’s ideals of integrity and inclusivity, both in the workplace and in the community
- Comfortable completing intermediate tasks on a computer, including using Microsoft Office and Excel; familiarity with Google Suite is preferred
- Proactive, detail-oriented project manager with sound organizational and prioritization skills
- Excellent time management skills; can maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment and adaptable in a dynamic and evolving high-growth business, with a demonstrated record of ability to perform under pressure
- Comfortable with basic hand tools use, machine setup, and equipment operation
- Able to read, understand, and communicate operational and safety information in English
- Able to work occasional nights and weekends as needed
- Able to work in an environment where food allergens may be present
Essential physical functions:
- Fully capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling 20-55 lbs (frequent) and 56-70 lbs (rarely)
- Good physical dexterity required; tasks and movements requiring fine motor skills is common and frequent
- Able to climb ladders and stairs, squat, kneel, reach overhead, and walk on uneven surfaces
- Able to both stand and sit for several hours at a time (daily tasks may include walking or standing for long periods, but also requires dedicated computer work)
- Position requires the ability to work in a variable temperature, indoor/outdoor environment
Typical weekly schedule:
- This full-time, exempt role primarily works within business hours of 8:30AM - 5:00PM, Monday-Friday, from Jacobsen’s production facility in Netarts, OR. There is potential for variable workdays as determined by business needs. Position requires occasional travel.

The starting annual salary range for this position is $55,000-$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience, knowledge, and qualifications. Benefits include paid time off and paid company holidays, as well as eligibility for health/dental/vision benefits after 60 days and 401(k) after one year.
