Planning the quintessential coastal getaway? Look no further than Oregon’s breathtaking North Coast - spanning from Pacific City to Astoria, there’s no shortage of places to explore. Also, its location less than two hours from the heart of Portland makes it a dream day-trip destination.
Check out our quick ‘n’ easy guide to notable stops along this stretch of the state that are all within a short drive of our salt works:
Sip & Snack
From beers to burgers to bivalves, no trip is complete without a few stops for sipping and snacking. Netarts Bay is home to millions of oysters, so there are plenty of places to find these tasty mollusks. If you prefer to shuck and grill them yourself beach-side, we suggest making Camp Yoshi’s recipe for Southern Oyster Rockefeller while you’re at it.
Sightsee
It’s the coast – undoubtedly every sight that involves the bay, ocean, or cow-grazing pastures will look like a scene out of a postcard, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have our favorites, like Cape Lookout, where Netarts Bay meets the Pacific Ocean, and Cape Meares, where you can explore a 133-year-old lighthouse. If you want to see it all while on the move, you could opt to paddle via waterways with Kayak Tillamook or take a scenic ride on a historic locomotive with Oregon Coastal Excursion.

Shop
We might be partial to this slice of the North Coast because our salt works and gift shop are nestled in Netarts Bay, but we’re also proud to be in good company with other shop-worthy destinations: Lex’s Cool Stuff will have you living your best Little Mermaid life with their thingamabobs galore, and the Tillamook Creamery serves as both an educational experience and a good excuse to get some ice cream.
