It's officially summer, and the warmer weather calls for one of salt's favorite cocktails: the margarita. This berry delicious take on the classic drink features a Koyo Berry-infused tequila called Tequila por mi Amante (meaning "tequila for my lover"), which can be used for a multitude of other tequila-based drinks. The recipe below makes enough infused liquor for a few drinks, but feel free to increase the ratio for enjoying all season long — just don't forget the salt rim.

Makes 2 drinks

Process

Make The Tequila por mi Amante

Wash and cut the Koyo Berries into halves and place them in a deli or jar, then add your tequila. Seal the container tightly and keep it in the fridge to infuse for at least a week, if not longer for a stronger infusion.

Once infused, strain the mixture to remove the Koyo Berries, then store the infused tequila in the fridge until it's ready to use.

Rim The Glass

Crush the infused salt to break up any larger clumps, then place in a shallow bowl or plate and then set aside.

Cut a lime into quarters, then run a slide of time along the rim of your glass until the glass is wet enough to allow the salt to stick. Dip your glass into the crushed salt.

Assemble The Margarita

Add ice to in your salt-rimmed glass. In a cocktail shaker, add ice, Tequila for mi Amante, lime juice, triple sec, and agave syrup and shake for about 20 seconds. Strain and pour the margarita into your glass and enjoy!
